S&D delegation called on EU leaders to demonstrate real leadership in the climate talks

S&D are very concerned about the lack of agreement so far in the climate change talks. With one day to go,no clear deal seems to be emerging. However as leaders begin to arrive in Copenhagen,Socialists and Democrats are pushing to help a breakthrough at COP 15 climate change talks.
A deal in Copenhagen must commit countries to binding emission reduction targets. The EU must make it clear that it is prepared to go up to 30% of CO 2 emission reduction on 1990 levels if other countries make similar binding commitments.
The EU has now also committed new and additional financing to help developing countries adapt to climate change.MEPs call on the EU and US and other developed countries to sign up to a global financial package to help the poorest countries adapt to climate change.
