On Saturday 19 December, the Copenhagen accord was agreed to. It is a rather short and disapointing document, which does not bind any country to any emission targets. However, this document is all that is possible when you are Attempting to get agreement between 180 countries. Europe is leading in the fight against climate change - there is no doubt about that. The question is: when will other countries such as the U.S. China and finally concede that it is in both their economic and political interest also to act? The discussions must continue, and the Mexico meeting in 2010 will be decisive. To be continued ...
